Dr. Md. Idris Ali
Assistant Professor
Dr. Md. Idris Ali is currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Business and Technology Management, Islamic University of Technology (IUT). He brings extensive academic and research experience spanning multiple institutions across Bangladesh and Canada. Before joining IUT, Dr. Idris served as a Chairperson and Associate Professor at the Green Business School, Green University of Bangladesh (GUB). Before that he was affiliated with Toronto Metropolitan University, Canada, where he served as a Research, Graduate, and Teaching Assistant from September 2019 to August 2025. During this time, he contributed to various research projects, assisted in graduate-level teaching, and supported academic initiatives that enriched student learning and scholarly output. Prior to his tenure in Canada, he also worked as a Lecturer and later as an Assistant Professor at two prominent universities in Bangladesh from 2006 to 2015. His dedication to academia extended beyond his primary faculty roles, as he also worked as a guest faculty member at four other universities, sharing his expertise and fostering academic growth across institutions. Dr. Idris’s contributions are not limited to teaching and research — he has actively engaged in academic leadership and administrative roles. From 2007 to 2011, he coordinated the BBA and MBA programs, playing a pivotal role in shaping program structures and enhancing student experiences. Notably, he led the curriculum development for the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) course at BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT), reflecting his commitment to integrating socially responsible practices into business education. In addition to his academic responsibilities at BUFT, Dr. Idris served as an Assistant Proctor, contributing to campus discipline and student welfare. Beyond academia, Dr. Idris has made significant contributions to the corporate sector by providing training sessions to employees of various renowned companies. His ability to bridge academic knowledge with real-world applications has made him a sought-after trainer, empowering organizations with insights into business strategy, sustainable practices, and ethical leadership. Dr. Md. Idris Ali’s research interests span a diverse range of fields, including sustainable business practices, corporate social responsibility (CSR), economic development, renewable energy, and the complex interplay between globalization, sustainable energy consumption, and environmental performance. His research contributions have been widely recognized, with numerous publications in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Idris has actively participated in international conferences across the United States, Canada, South Africa, and Bangladesh, where he has presented his findings and contributed valuable insights to the global academic discourse. In recognition of his expertise, he serves as a regular reviewer for several esteemed academic journals, helping to shape and refine research in his areas of specialization. Dr. Idris’s academic journey reflects an unwavering commitment to excellence. He earned his PhD from Toronto Metropolitan University, where he was nominated for a gold medal for his groundbreaking research on sustainable energy consumption, economic growth, and environmental performance. His academic credentials also include a Master’s in Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management from the University of Toronto, a Master’s in Financial Accountability (with a focus on Corporate Governance) from York University, and an MSc-level in CSR from Nyenrode University in the Netherlands. Additionally, he holds both a BBA and an MBA in Marketing from the University of Rajshahi, where he demonstrated outstanding academic achievement. Dr. Idris’s dedication to scholarship was evident from an early stage — he secured a merit position in his Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination under the Rajshahi Education Board. His consistent academic excellence has been recognized through numerous awards and scholarships from Toronto Metropolitan University, the University of Toronto, and the Rajshahi Education Board, underscoring his relentless pursuit of knowledge and impact-driven research.
